THE HIDDEN CAMERAS

THE HIDDEN CAMERAS

One of Canada’s most merciless artists - Joel Gibb - is the front singer, songwriter and leader of The Hidden Cameras. Since their formation in Toronto in 2001, Joel Gibb and his changing band of musical provocateurs, have become both famous and infamous for their legendary live performances, in which freedom and sexuality is celebrated nakedly and without inhibition. The music has been called both Baroque pop and Queercore. Joel Gibb calls the music “gay church folk music”, which is supplemented occasionally by both go-go dancers clad in ski masks, a choir and a strings section. On their latest album “Home on Native Land” (2016), musical icons like Rufus Wainwright, Feist, Neil Tennant, Bahamas, Ron Sexsmith and Mary Margaret O’Hara perform.
