Maarja Nuut is a singer, violinist and composer, a determined experimenter, someone who seeks a personal fusion between the musical traditions of long-lived times and new technologies. She’s known for utterly compelling, often hypnotic performances filled with quirky and haunting storytelling about death and the landscape.
Maarja’s debut was the self-released “Soolo” (Solo) in 2013. Three years later, now a veteran of the world music circuit – with acclaimed performances at Womex and Womad – and with the Artist Prize at Tallinn Music Week festival under her belt, Maarja self-released her second album “Une Meeles” (In the Hold of a Dream) in 2016. The record was released to widespread international critical acclaim and brought her many awards at home. Since then Maarja has toured as a solo performer throughout Europe and North America.
