Funeral Folk is a powerful collaboration between spectral composer Maria W Horn and folk musician Sara Parkman. Rooted in their shared upbringing in Ångermanland, Sweden, the project explores grief rituals and the sonic landscape of death—melding sacred music, Karelian lament traditions, Swedish folk, black metal, and spectral minimalism. With instrumentation ranging from synths, zithers, hurdy gurdy, and mellotron to voice and cowbells, the duo weaves deeply emotional and atmospheric compositions that resonate across time and tradition. A haunting and transcendent live experience.
