Funeral Folk is the awe-inspiring partnership between spectral composer Maria W Horn and folk musician Sara Parkman. Both native to Ångermanland, sharing their upbringing in the north of Sweden, nurtured by nature in the landskap neighbouring Lapland. Their bond fountains exploration into grief rituals, delving into the blossoming and the withering. Sacred music swathed in Karelian lament traditions, Swedish folk, black metal, and spectral minimalism. With instrumentation ranging from synths, zithers, hurdy gurdy, and mellotron to voice and cowbells, the duo weaves deeply rooted emotional and frisson-like compositions that resonate with a hauntingly immutable force. A live experience, destined to be treasured.
