Brussels quartet Why the Eye? plays masked, prehistoric techno with a raw and instinctive approach to sound and movement. All instruments are hand-built and played live without loops, sequencers or backing tracks, making the music arise and take shape in the moment – physical, tactile and trance-inducing. The project stems from Brussels’ alternative carnival culture, where masks and collective celebration were replaced by a very special ritual. On stage, the musicians disappear into the music, and the audience becomes part of it.
